RE OPENING OF ROAD AFTER BRIDGE WORK

Outwood Lane, which leads to and from Terminals 1 and 3 at Manchester Airport , reopened last night instead of on Monday (March 3) as planned, after bridge work was completed earlier than scheduled. Network Rail contractors Carillion rolled a new road-over-rail bridge into place 5 days ahead of schedule.

The £15m project to build the concrete bridge alongside the existing station at the airport is a crucial step in the programme to build a third platform. A spokesman for network rail said that it will relieve congestion and improve operational flexibility, leading to better punctuality and reliability of trains.
