Liverpool John Lennon airport is located around 5 miles from the city centre of Liverpool just off the M53 junction 8. The airport serves airlines travelling to and from destinations around the world.
The airport terminal has two areas in which to eat & a bars, the food village serving a wide range of hot & cold foods, Burger King for fast food services & the Estuary bar & Wetherspoons for an alcoholic or soft drink before you fly. The terminal also has many shops including duty free products. Liverpool JL Airport officially opened on the 1st July 1933 under the name of Liverpool Speke Airport. There had been scheduled flights running from 1930, however. It was renamed as Liverpool John Lennon Airport in 2001 22 years after the musician’s death. During WW2, Liverpool Airport was used by the RAF and was known as RAF Speke.
