Bristol airport was noted to be the 9th busiest airport in the UK in 2010. It consists of one terminal and is located in North Somerset, serving Bristol and the surrounding areas. There are 20 airlines operating from Bristol Airport. A police station is located in the old terminal which is operated by Avon and Somerset Constabulary.
Bristol Airport advises passengers to arrive at the check-in desks 2 hours prior to boarding for scheduled flights and 3 hours before for charter flights. There are many shops, restaurants, cash machines, internet access points with printing facilities and a taxi rank before customs. After customs there’s an executive lounge, bureau de change, shops and restaurants.

Bristol Airport opened in 1930 as Bristol Lulsgate Airport. During the Second World War it was the only civil airport still operating meaning passengers for London would have to alight at Bristol. In 1939, 4000 passengers passed through Bristol, a considerable amount less than the 5.75million that passed through in 2010. In 1997 Bristol Lulsgate Airport became Bristol International Airport before finally, in March 2010 changing its name to Bristol Airport.
