Manchester Traffic

M6 Merseyside | Northbound | Heavy traffic | Clear
On the M6 northbound between junctions J22 and J23, delays due to heavy traffic have now cleared.

M6 Cheshire | Southbound | Roadworks, 2 lanes closed
On the M6 southbound between junctions J20 and J19, expect delays of up to 10 mins at peak times due to roadworks closing two lanes, from 9 pm on 16 March 2010 to 5 am on 17 March 2010.

A556 Cheshire | Southbound | Roadworks
On the A556 southbound at the junction with the M56, there are currently delays of 15 mins due to roadworks . Expect disruption until 5:00 am on 11 March 2010.

A56 Lancashire | Southbound | Roadworks, road closed
The A56 southbound is closed between the junctions with the A680 and the A6177, due to roadworks. Expect disruption until 6:00 am on 11 March 2010.

Airport Information

Terminal One

Terminal One is the largest and the original terminal at Manchester airport and the majority of flights still fly from this terminal.

Checking in – Most airlines have their own procedures for early check in so its best to check with the specific airline if you can check-in before arriving at the airport i.e online.  Terminal One has separate check-in desks for charter flights and international flights.

International flights - check in 3 hours prior to departure

European flights - check in 2 hours prior to departure

Domestic flights - check in 1 hour prior to departure

Express Check In/Self Service is available at Manchester Airport and can save you a lot of time.  They are very user friendly and easy to use.  Simply following the on screen instructions print of your boarding pass and drop your bags off at the bag drop off point.  These areas are clearly marked so cannot be missed.

Arrivals is based on the lower level. To check arrival times online click here.

Baggage storage is available at Arrivals. The cost is £5 per item per day. They also charge £5 for the retrieval of lost items and £3 for the retrieval of confiscated items

International connections do not need to go through Immigrations or Customs but all International to Domestic connections do.

Domestic to International connections can use the special Immigration check points if baggage is through-checked.

Terminal Two

Terminal Two is the second largest terminal at Manchester airport and more and more airlines are flying from this terminal.  For a full list of airlines check out our table at the botton of this page.
