How To Find Safe Airport Parking Transfers With Children At Manchester Airport

April 11th, 2008 by admin

Since the new regulations were brought into force regarding travelling in your car with children, getting to and from Manchester Airport or any airport for that matter has become a huge problem for families. To find a reputable taxi company with suitable car seats for each of your children can be harder than finding your holiday in the first place. So how can you get your children to and from Manchester Airport safely and legally, without breaking the bank?

Regulations state that from September 2006 children who are passengers in cars, vans or goods vehicles need to use some form of child restraint. A child under the age of three must use a suitable restraint. From your childrens third birthday up until they reach a height of 135cm or reach their 12th birthday must also use the correct restraint. Reading the above you can pretty much see that from birth up until the age of twelve some form of child restraint needs to be used when travelling with a child.

Anybody who has tried, knows that getting to and from Manchester Airport with your children in suitable and safe transport can be a nightmare, not to mention expensive. Peoples first thoughts will turn to local taxi companies for a solution. I suppose this is one way to tackle the issue, but from personal experience is not the most reliable. Imagine booking a taxi and asking for child restraints for a five year old and a one year old. By law depending on the size of your children these restraints will be two different types of car seat. If you are lucky enough to find a taxi company that holds more than one type of car seat you are still leaving it to chance that when the driver is despatched he or she brings the correct seats with them.

Its up to you if you wish to gamble with your childrens safety or not but I am guessing that most of you would not want leave this to chance and would rather a better solution. Before offering the solution lets consider the other downside of travelling with children. If you are flying out of Manchester Airport and have to be there to check in at 04:00 the last thing you want is to be waiting round for taxis and having to keep your tired and grouchy children awake so you can squeeze them into an unfamiliar child seat. Sound familiar? Well fear not.

Meet and greet airport parking is a much safer and a more family friendly solution for travelling with your children to and from Manchester Airport. With meet and greet parking the worry of, is this correct car restraint is eliminated. You as the customer travel to the airport in your own vehicle at a time to suit you and your family. No waiting round for taxi companies to turn up, or worrying whether or not they will have the correct restraints with them. By booking meet and greet parking you have your child or children, in their own approved car restraints that they are used to, and hopefully comfortable in. To any parent reading this article will know that this in itself can be a godsend, as will cause less disruption for the child thus resulting in a smoother transfer and hopefully pain free check in once inside the airport.

You may be saying to yourself that this must be expensive? Depending on your location to Manchester Airport, meet and greet airport parking can be very reasonable and with prices coming down everyday can, in most cases work out cheaper than a taxi journey.

You cannot put a price on your childrens safety so even if it is does work out slightly more expensive than a taxi ride I am sure you will agree its worth the extra few pennies.

How To Book Meet And Greet Parking Effectively

March 31st, 2008 by admin

Over the last two years chauffeur parking and valet parking, otherwise know as meet and greet parking has received a lot of bad press. This article explains what should be done in order to ensure, if using this type of service, your vehicle is looked after in the way that is expected and paid for.

Meet and greet parking is a system of parking that allows the customer a stress free way to park their vehicle when travelling from an airport. Instead of the traditional park and ride facility whereby the customer drives direct to the car park and is transported to the terminal on a transport coach, they drive direct to the airport terminal and have their car collected. Upon the customers return their vehicle is waiting for them where they left it. Hassle free and no waiting for transfer coaches. Just simply walk outside jump in your vehicle and off you go.

All sounds good doesn’t it? It’s what happens next that can be worrying for the customer. It has been documented that some car parks can be up to and more than 10 miles away from the airport thus putting up to 20 miles onto the cars mileage.

Ask yourself this question? Is the car park where your vehicle is being kept secure enough? Is the driver insured to drive your vehicle? Is your vehicle actually being stored in a car park or on the side of a road?

All very scary and will no doubt put you off using such a service. Unfortunately there are operators out there who cannot answer the above questions satisfactorily and should be avoided at all costs. It is these operators that have given valet parking a bad name. Chauffeur parking is an excellent service and should not be forgotten about. With prices coming down everyday it’s still worth using this type of service, and with a little bit of care you can find an excellent provider. Below is a brief guide on how to find a reputable meet and greet provider.

The Right Meet and Greet provider

Use a comparison site – Comparison sites have more than one car park available and usually research their car parks before allowing them to advertise on their site.
Always check the more info pages on a site – All reputable comparison sites should have more information on all the car parks that they advertise. These details should include such things as security details, insurance details, disabled facilities and more. If there are not any more info pages you should avoid the site.

  • Look for review pages – Reviews are always useful to find out what other people thought about each car park.
  • Don’t just book on price – This might sound ridiculous but the cheapest car park isn’t always the best. Ensure you take on board all of the above when making your choice.
  • Ask Questions – Email the company and ask questions about insurance and security details. Any reputable company will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
  • Make sure your vehicle is checked – When you are handing your car over; ensure that the driver checks your vehicle and notes any damage. Always make sure you sign and agree any damage to your vehicle before leaving it.
  • Check your vehicle upon your return – Always check your vehicle on your return against the signed check sheet that was filled in upon your departure. It is vitally important to report any new damage at this point as once you have driven away you are less likely to be able to process a successful claim.

Meet and Greet parking is growing every day due to how convenient it is for the customer. Don’t be put off by what you may have heard in the past, just follow the seven points above to ensure your vehicle is looked after in the correct way that will allow you to enjoy meet and greet parking the way it was intended…HASSLE FREE.

Cutting Down Queuing Times At Manchester Airport

March 27th, 2008 by admin

We have all experienced the nightmare of the check in desk when travelling from any airport let alone Manchester. The long queues, slow check in personnel and the family in front that have numerous children who are all excited about going on holiday and who’s parents cannot find their passports without emptying hundreds of bags first.

None of this helps to get your holiday off to a stress free start like you deserve. Manchester Airport is one of the biggest airports in the UK and along with the likes of Jet2.com, BMI Baby and various other airlines they have come up with various ways to reduce check in times. Read on to find out how to beat the queues at Manchester.

Online Check In

Online check in normally opens 24 hours prior to flight departure and is available from various airlines that fly out of Manchester Airport, a list of which can be found in the resource section at the bottom of this article. This service is only available for passengers travelling with hand luggage only, and all the usual security restrictions still apply.

Express Check In

Online check in is the brainchild of the airlines whereas Express Check in is Manchester Airports contribution to speeding things up. This system is advertised by Manchester Airport as “no queues no hassle”. All sounds to good to be true but in reality this service is a lifesaver and a long time in coming.

Express check-in kiosks can be found scattered all around the departure lounges at Manchester Airport and are brightly coloured for easy spotting. There all touch screen and extremely easy to use. All you need to do is input your passport, e-ticket or credit card number, follow the on screen instructions and produce your own boarding pass. All that is left for you to do then is drop your luggage off at the designated drop off point and head straight for security.

Sounds to simple and puts a lot of people off as they are required to process their booking themselves. Fear not. The kiosks are designed with simplicity in mind and are all touch screen with clear and easy to follow instructions. A dedicated member of staff is always at hand to assist you in the use of these machines so there really is no need to worry about making a mistake.

Online and express check in has categorically reduced waiting times at Manchester Airport and will continue to reduce them as long as people continue to use them. These services are not advertised nearly enough by Manchester Airport or the airlines so it is important to spread the word.

Long queues plague the airport industry Globally. The UK is lucky enough to have a handful of some the best and most efficient airports worldwide Manchester being one of them. Anybody who has travelled back from another European airport will no doubt agree with this.

I’m sure there are variations on Express and Online check in through out the world so let’s hope that all airports take a leaf out of Manchester’s book and adopt them sooner rather than later.

Park And Ride Airport Parking

February 22nd, 2008 by admin

Park and ride parking is the oldest and cheapest form of Airport Parking there is, and this article gives the low down on exactly what can be expected if you book this kind of service.

As park and ride airport parking is cheaper than meet and greet the whole process is slightly longer. In past years park and ride was nowhere near as good or efficient as it is today and is now holding its own against the likes of meet and greet airport parking.

With park and ride airport parking the customer drives to the car park and hops on a transfer coach that would then take them to Manchester Airport for instance. Upon the customers arrival back into the country they would hop back on the transfer coach and be taken back to the car park where they then collect their vehicle.

There are still airport car parks out there who do not run dedicated transfer coaches which im sure you can appreciate slow the whole process down. In the main most park and ride providers generally follow the same procedure.

The customer drives direct to the car park where he parks in the arrival bay and gos to the reception. They will probably be asked to fill out a small form with such details as mileage registration etc and asked to hand over their keys. The customer’s luggage will then be placed onto the transfer minibus and the customer will be taken to the airport terminal.

Once the customer has left the car park their vehicle will be removed from the arrival bay and parked securely in the main car park where it can be accessed upon the customers return.

When the customer arrives back into the country they will call the number provided upon their departure and the airport parking provider will despatch the minibus to collect them and bring them back. Most companies now will run to and from the airport with one customer on the minibus but some airport parking providers will still insist the minibus is full before leaving. As a result please check the more info pages on our site  for details of this.

When the customer arrives back at the car park their car will be waiting again in the arrival bay. Your keys need to be collected from reception and the car will be released.

Overall park and ride parking is a much cheaper but with all businesses there are sharks out there so be sure to check out the airport parking provider carefully. Meet and Greet Airport Parking

February 22nd, 2008 by admin

Meet and Greet, Valet, Chauffeur are all exactly the same service and this article gives the low down on exactly what can be expected if you book this kind of service.

Meet and greet parking essentially has come about to make the parking process a whole lot simpler for the customer and to cut down on waiting time.

With Meet and greet the customer drives directly to the airport terminal they are flying from for an agreed time. The time is usually agreed between the customer and the parking provider in advance. Approximately fifteen minutes before the arrival the customer generally is advised to call the airport parking provider. This call prompts the airport parking provider to get themselves of to the designated meeting point, thus cutting down waiting time for both parties.

The airport parking provider once in contact should do a thorough inspection of the vehicle making a note of all dints, scratches and general damage to the vehicle. After the inspection they should give the customer a note to sign for the damage. This process simply covers the airport parking provider against any fraudulent insurance claims.

Once the inspection process is completed the airport parking provider will explain to the customer the arrival procedure for their return. This can vary between provider but basically is as simple as to call a specific number once they have collected their luggage and make there way to a designated are where their car will be waiting.

At this point the customer should check the car over and ensure that the only damage on the vehicle is the agreed damage that they signed for on their departure. It is at this point that the customer must report any damage as once the car has been driven away the airport parking provider may not accept liability for any extra damage so be careful. For more details on this please check out the airport parking providers terms and conditions.

Overall Meet and greet airport parking is a much more user friendly service but with all businesses there are sharks out there so be sure to check out the airport parking provider carefully. MF Airport Parking ltd are local to Manchester Airport and offer Manchester Airport Parking only.
