There are numerous facilities for passengers at the airport for special needs such as devices that assist passengers with hearing problems, access that is readily available for wheelchairs, chairs in the airport have arm rests attached, and the monitors showing the departure and arrival information have been lowered for those with vision problems as well as directions being posted in black letters with a yellow background.

People that are Accompanied by Children
If you are traveling with your children here are a few tips to remember along the way. There are facilities to take care of your children next to the bathrooms in both the hall you arrive in as well as the departure lounge. There are special bathrooms, which are designated unisex that will allow parent's to take their young children. The restaurants located throughout t Edinburgh Airport UK welcome children and families. Most of the restaurants even have special menus just for the children. There is a food court in which you could purchase your children's meals. This is located conveniently on the first floor right before you go through security.

Speaking of Security
When you are planning to leave Edinburgh Airport, you need to remember to arrive quite early before your flight. The security has become stricter. If you have an international flight you will need to check in as early as 3 hours before you depart. If you are taking a European flight, you will need to check in as early as 2 hours and domestic flights mean you will need to check in 1 hour before you leave.

What to do Before Flying
When traveling you are only allowed to bring 1 carry-on bag with the dimensions of 22 inches in length17.5 inches in height and 9.85 inches in depth including the wheels, handles, and any pockets, everything else must be checked into the cargo hold. If you wish to travel to a beautiful place one of the first places to visit should be Edinburgh Scotland. In 2007, Edinburgh Airport UK allowed over 9 million passengers to travel to and from Scotland. The M9 as well as M90 motorway very easily accesses Edinburgh Airport. There are multiple forms of transportation for access to the airport.

The Past
Have you ever stop to wonder how places were built or the history behind the building? The current building serving as terminal was actually constructed back in 1977 by a designer by the name of Robert Matthew. However, the control tower was not completed until 2005. Since 1977, the building has been upgraded with new facilities. The original terminal has quite an exciting history.

Edinburgh Airport was once known as Turnhouse Aerodrome, which was a base for defense during World War I. It was opened in 1915 and use to house airplanes used during the war such as DH 9As and Hawker Hind light bombers among others. The airstrip for this facility at this time was just grass. Then in 1918, this facility was turned into the RAF Turnhouse. RAF stands for the Royal Air Force. This base also was a part of World War II. After the fighter command took charge there was roughly 4,000 feet of pavement laid in order to handle the aircraft known as the Vickers Supermarine Spitfire.

After many years under military control, the first services used commercially were in 1947 when British European Airways was developed. This airline flew between Edinburgh and the city of London. Then in 1952, 6000 feet of pavement was poured to extend the runway. In 1980 there were two international flights to Amsterdam as well Dublin. The next two places were France and Germany.

The Present
Moving forward into the present, the air traffic tower reaching a height of roughly 190 feet was completed in 2005 costing approximately £10m (€16m). There were six gates added in 2006. The main runway's resurfacing was completed in November of 2008. Because of this the runway will last another 15 years before anything needs to be done. Along with the resurfacing of the runway, the construction of the departure lounge began in December of 2008.
The Future

Let's jump ahead to the future of Edinburgh Airport UK. The tram network for Edinburgh is projected to make a connection to the airport by 2011. Throughout the next decade a total of £250m is to be spent on upgrading the airport. By 2030, the numbers of travelers are expected to exceed 26 million each year.

In Conclusion
It's exciting to think that a facility could grow from a small military base all the way to a major airport. There have definitely been an amazing amount of work put into making the airport what it is today. It looks like there are some really great things in store for the Edinburgh Airport UK.

For the best Edinburgh Airport Parking visit our Edinburgh page

MF Airport Parking the best Manchester Airport Parking on the net

Plan Ahead to Enjoy Time Spent at Heathrow Airport

Whether you're travelling for business or pleasure, long flights, flights with multiple stops and even short flights with lengthy layovers can be stressful. One pilot let down th eoxygen masks whilst another flight reported that they felt light headed after takeoff.
Passengers and three cabin attendants reported feeling so unwell from 'noxious fumes' with a 'gas-type' smell on a third plane that a full security alert was triggered. Paramedics were only allowed on board the jet following an emergency landing after the Army was alerted and it was held for 90 minutes by armed police.

The Department for Transport said 116 'contaminated air events' had been reported to the Civil Aviation Authority in 2007. It has been revealled that 8 of these happened on flights to or from Manchester, as reported in CAA documents.

News of this incidents comes days after the government said it was probing claims that contaminated cabin air was making passengers and pilots ill.

Dont forget your Manchester Airport Parking when flying from Manchester Airport. Eye witnesses said that they saw the plane being tossed about by the wind before skirting over the clubhouse, slicing the top off a tree, and landing in a hedge.

Anaesthetist Ahmed Eskander, from Rochdale, lost control of his Denney Kitfox two-seater as he came in to land at the airport. An eyewitness told the newspaper: ‘He screwed up his landing and you could see he'd decided to put on full power and go back round for another attempt. But he went into a stall and was having to fight the wind. The plane almost flipped over, it was like something out of a James Bond film.'

‘The plane came whizzing past the roof of the clubhouse and everybody in there screamed. Then there was a loud bang, and everybody came running out. He'd crashed into trees and then flipped round into a hedge. He narrowly missed crashing into the cars in the car park and only the hedge stopped him from crashing onto Liverpool Road.'

‘It was totally surreal. Somehow he managed to pull himself out of the wreckage before collapsing on the ground. His legs looked like they were cut to the bone and it's no wonder when you saw the crushed cockpit.’

Mr Eskander, who has 600 hours' flying experience, was given stitches to his leg injuries and discharged from hospital.

For all your Manchester Airport Parking needs book with confidence with MF Airport Parking

Manchester Airport Parking Click Here
MF Airport Parking the best Manchester Airport Parking on the net

MANCHESTER AIRPORT CAR PARK DIRECTIONS

A few of MF Airport Parkings customers have come on to us asking for directions to their chosen car parks. Originally called Manchester (Ringway) Airport, the hub is now the UK’s largest regional (non London) airport, and the forth biggest in the UK overall.

A series of celebratory events have been planned to take place throughout the year to celebrate the anniversary, including an M Fest family day, a dinner for dignitaries and the long awaited completion of the new Concorde hangar.

Manchester Airport’s Managing Director Andrew Cornish said: ‘The airport has changed beyond recognition from those early days. In 6 months of operations in 1938 the airport handled 4000 passengers - In 6 months of operations in 2007 the airport handled over 11 million passengers. In 1938 there were 12 destinations served by Manchester, only 1 of them being outside the UK - In 2007 Manchester had over 220 destinations worldwide, more than any other UK airport.'
'In 1938 there were only two check-in desks - In 2008 there are hundreds of check-in desks, plus Express and Internet check-in facilities. The runway in 1938 was 3000 feet in length - The modern runways are 10000 feet (3048 metres) in length.'

Dont forget to book your Manchester Airport Parking for any forthcoming trips:

Manchester Airport Parking
MF Airport Parking the best Manchester Airport Parking on the net

THINGS TO DO IN MANCHESTER

For all our customers who regularly visit our site or subscribe to our blog I would like to let you all know that we have now included some useful information on our site about Manchester.

More and more people these days extend their holidays or business trips and sometimes book into a hotel a day or so before their travel dates. Then a jet with 245 holidaymakers flying to Manchester from Palma, Mallorca was forced to make an emergency landing because of a suspected wheel fault. No-one was injured, but both aircraft were stranded on taxiways for some time.

The newspaper reports that the Philadelphia-bound US Airways Airbus A330 was heading down the runway at lunchtime yesterday when it is thought a warning light flashed in the cockpit. The captain aborted the take-off and began taxiing back to the terminal, but a tyre then deflated, leaving the aircraft stranded on the tarmac on the approach to Terminal 2.

Fire crews were called as a precaution after smoke was seen coming from the brakes and the passengers were evacuated down steps. As a result, two flights to Manchester, one from the Isle of Man and one from London, had to be diverted to Liverpool while an airfield operations team carried out a runway sweep.

The US airways jet was still on the taxiway at around 15:00 yesterday when a First Choice Airways' Airbus A320 made an emergency landing. It is reported that the problem with the jet coming from Mallorca was related to its nose wheel. The plane was towed to the terminal by a tug just before 16:00.

Airport Parking Manchester from one of the best company on the net:

MF Airport Parking
MF Airport Parking the best Manchester Airport Parking on the net

NEW SERVICE CONTRACT WON AT MANCHESTER AIRPORT

A private jet business based at Manchester Airport has won a service contract with Canadian aircraft manufacturer Bombardier. It plans to fly to Malaga and Alicante in Spain, Faro in Portugal and Palma, Majorca with a total of 14 services a week.

The new luxury airline will target well-heeled leisure travellers, including people with holiday homes, across the north. Director Andy Mitchell told the newspaper: ‘We continue to seek investment and our timetable remains unaffected. We believe the demand exists for our service and we believe it will be successful.’

He said passengers would be able to check in online and would have access to airport lounges, adding that fares would be `competitive'. Premjet is headed by chief executive Chris Belcher and its board includes former Manchester Airport director Paul Connellan, who is a non-executive and is acting as a consultant. It says that the UK's second biggest airports operator has requested further details about Belfast City, which has a price tag of more than £100m.

A source at MAG confirmed the company's interest in acquiring Belfast City, telling the newspaper: 'We will certainly be having a close look at it but a formal offer is some way off. The group is interested in acquiring assets that add value for shareholders, and has an excellent track record of running airports.'

At the same time, MAG have been holding informal talks with private equity groups about the possibility of a joint bid for Gatwick, and have appointed advisers to find a buyer for Humberside Airport.
MF Airport Parking the best Manchester Airport Parking on the net

HEATHROW AIRPORT PARKING

HEATHROW AIRPORT PARKING

For those of you wanting Heathrow Airport Parking you can now book through our sister site MF Airport Parking Heathrow.

We have taken that extra step to offering our customers that little bit more. According to a report by the BBC yesterday, it could be interested in buying Gatwick Airport, should BAA be forced to sell the hub.

Gatwick Airport is owned by BAA, but the Competition Commission has said it is concerned that the Spanish-owned company also owns London's other two biggest airports, Heathrow and Stansted, and in August may decide to force them to sell one of them. Gatwick is seen as the most likely airport to be offloaded, with a possible price tag of £2 - £3 billion.

MAG's chief executive Geoff Muirhead told the BBC that he would consider buying if BAA did put the airport on the market. He said: ‘We would be interested in any assets that come up, on the premise that we feel we could improve the performance of the group on the back of it, at a price that was sensible.'

Councillor Morris, who is Bolton's representative on the MAG shareholders' committee, said owning Gatwick and improving the area's links with the South could be good news for the region. He said: ‘We have to look at all the options and if Gatwick becomes part of the group it could be very good for Manchester.'

To book Manchester Airport Parking from MF Airport Parking please click on the link below:

Manchester Airport Parking
MF Airport Parking the best Manchester Airport Parking on the net

MOVEMENT ON THE PLANS TO PURCHASE AN AIRPORT: MF AIRPORT PARKING
Looks like MAG have decided to show their hand with regards to the impending sell off of BAA and have announced they would be interested in purchasing Gatwick should it become available. Read on for the details.

"Manchester Airports Group (MAG) said it would be interested in buying Gatwick Airport should BAA be forced by the Competition Commission to sell it, the BBC reports, citing the company's chief executive.

MAG currently owns Manchester, East Midlands, Bournemouth and Humberside airports, and is the largest airport operator in the country after BAA. It is currently considering selling Humberside Airport, although this is unlikely to raise much cash.

Geoff Muirhead, chief executive of MAG, told the BBC: 'We'd be interested in any assets that come up, on the premise that we feel we could improve the performance of the group on the back of it, at a price that was sensible.'

The Competition Commission (CC) last month said that BAA, which owns seven United Kingdom airports, 'may not be serving well the interests of either airlines or passengers'. No conclusions have been reached, but the CC confirmed its final findings in August could require 'the sale of one or more of BAA's airports'.

The BBC said Gatwick is seen as the most likely candidate for sale in the South East, with industry experts estimating the London airport could fetch £2bn - £3bn. The CC also criticised BAA's ownership of Edinburgh and Glasgow Airports, with reports also suggesting that it could be forced to sell Glasgow Airport, with rumours that this would be MAG's target. Price wise, at around £700m, it would seem more realistic.

MAG is privately owned by ten borough councils. How they would justify the investment and risk of taking on the purchase of Gatwick, we are not sure. One councillor already suggested that they should sell up. They could justify controlling the regions airport – it helps the councils encourage growth in the area, and it can take a longer term view, focusing on wider benefits rather than short term profits – but could you justify owning a large London airport? Especially if things go wrong."

For Manchester Airport Parking click on the link below:

Manchester Airport Parking
MF Airport Parking the best Manchester Airport Parking on the net

MANCHESTER AIRPORT PARKING AND HOW IT ALL BEGAN WITH MALES GARAGE

Males Garage was the first Manchester Airport Parking Company at Manchester Airport but what follows is the story of how Manchester Airport Parking was born and how it has evolved over the years. From the cinder area of yester year to the huge industry it is today.

1953 and 1954 were massive years for Manchester Airport as they started to operate cutting edge aircraft such as the Convair liners and flying out to more European destinations. Long haul aircraft such as the DC-6 started to turn up in ever increasing numbers as air traffic increased at Manchester Airport.

Manchester Airports terminals by 1954 were expanding at a phenomenal rate as passenger figures reached approximately two hundred and fifty thousand. Three months after officially changing its name to Manchester Airport they reached their one-millionth passenger who incidentally travelled to the glamorous destination of the Isle of Man.

All this growth at Manchester Airport saw an increase in motor traffic and an opening for the first Manchester Airport car park. One young person was about to fill this gap. Jack Males the owner of Males Garage, an ex serviceman who had recently returned home to Wythenshawe opened up a small tractor repair company a short distance away from Manchester Airport not knowing the opportunity that was about to come his way.

As well as the rapid growth of Manchester Airport Males Tractor Services also expanded and branched out into plant hire and construction work. During this expansion of both businesses people would travel from Manchester Airport and at the time the car parking at Manchester Airport consisted of nothing more than a small cinder area close to the terminal with the capacity for only fifty cars. Upon their return travellers would have problems starting their vehicles so naturally went looking for help at the nearest place possible. Luckily for Jack Males and Males Garage they were the closest, so benefited from this extra trade by starting vehicles and providing small repairs.

This simple act of help would revolutionise the Manchester Airport Parking industry, as we know it today. Males Garage car storage was born, offering a secure alternative to the standard cinder path that was previously used, as well as still offering the convenience of being close to the airport. Over the years Males Garage went from strength to strength and for fifty-three years have been at the top of the parking food chain offering excellent customer service resulting in many customers returning year after year.

It was inevitable that during those fifty three years Males Garage could not possibly continue to be the only off airport Manchester Airport Parking provider and other companies started to spring up to keep up with the growth of Manchester Airport and its ever increasing passenger list. Despite this ever increasing growth in off airport parking companies Males Garage continued to operate and saw so many smaller companies come and go.

In 2007 a minimum of twenty two million people passed through Manchester Airport with still more to come. Manchester Airport decided they wanted the land where Males Garage stood and after fifty-three years of trading made Jack Males of Males garage an offer he could not refuse. I am sure all of the other Manchester Airport Parking companies in the area who have grown businesses as a result of Jacks insight all them years ago would like to say a huge thank you to Jack for the birth of Manchester Airport Parking as we know it today.

Mark Farrell owns and runs MF Airport Parking who work with MAVP who now offer the Males service - Book Parking with MAVP

MF Airport Parking the best Manchester Airport Parking on the net
